Lo más importante al hacer fotografía urbana es contar siempre con una cámara accesible. No importa si es la cámara de tu celular. Después de muchos años haciendo esto, he llegado a la conclusión de que “Recuerdas las fotos que no tomaste y olvidas aquellas que tienes en la cámara”.

The single most important thing in street photography is always having the camera with you. It doesn’t matter if it is only your phone’s camera. After many years of shooting in the streets, I came to the conclusion that “You remember the missed shots, and forget the ones you have in the camera”.

Por lo general busco dos cosas en mis imágenes, luz y postura; y muchas veces no es necesario que sean espectaculares para hacer fotografías interesantes.

I’m always looking for two things in my photos: light and gestures. They don’t have to be spectacular or grandiose to create great images.

Los aeropuertos son un lugar común en mi vida. Muchos de ellos son modestos, otros destacables y enormes. Pero en todos hay personajes y acciones interesantes.

Airports are familiar places for me. Many of them are modest buildings, others gigantic and remarkable. But no matter in which airport you’re in, you always find interesting people and gestures.

La mayoría de mis fotografías están tomadas en blanco y negro. Así aprendí a tomar fotografías, era la forma más sencill, y barata, de hacer imágenes. Ahora, es una decisión 100% estilística que me permite eliminar la capa de color y enfocarme en contrastes y formas.

Pero hay situaciones en las que el color prevalece; y en el caso de la imágen debajo, el color manda.

Most of my work is in black and white. That´s how I learned to shoot; it was the easiest and cheapest way to practice. Today I shoot B&W because of a stylistic decision that helps me focus on contrast and shapes.

But there are images in which color is king, like the one below.

Hay algunos temas que surgen de forma orgánica en mis imagenes. En esta ocasión y durante el mismo día, encontré 3 grupos de personas que eran dígnos de fotografiar. Por lo general, la misma dinámica del grupo genera que los individuos graviten hacia ciertos lugares y/o posturas interesantes.

Some themes arise organically in my images. On this occasion and during the same day, I found 3 groups of people who were worth shooting. In general, group dynamics cause individuals to gravitate toward certain interesting places and/or postures.
